TURBO STIRRERS!
French designer, Reno, designed the Turbo Stirrers for a popular French ‘children’s’ cocktail that comes with a less inspired stirring stick. His idea was to offer the more fun spinning-propellor design to the company but they turned it down. Not discouraged, Reno offered the design to Kikkerland Design who also produced Reno’s Battery Flashlight and more recently, Beautiful Earth Magnetic Globes.
When I asked Reno about it being a French item, he agreed “stirring a ’sirop de grenadine’ is very French. All childs [sic] do it. and…YES, ADD A FRENCH FLAG TO THE PACKAGING!”
When I asked Kikkerlander Perrine Giacomazzo, aka “Frenchie,” “No Ice?!” referring to the child’s picture above…she said. “That’s not French!”
The “very French” Turbo Stirrers come in assorted colors or black and white and great for entertaining. Reno’s products are available in New York City at Mxyplyzyk, in Miami at Arango, in Minneapolis at Patina Stores to name a few.
